Take advantage of every opportunity to learn while supervised because you never know what your unsupervised professional future may require.
If you foster a healthy life outside of radiology you will also thrive at work.
Be kind and respectful to everybody, especially at 2 AM while on call.
Learn from your mistakes.
Engage with the broader Radiology community in some way that brings you joy (social media, ACR meetings, etc.).
Mentor a medical student interested radiology.
Reach out when you need help.
Develop long-standing friendships with your co-residents, administrative staff, and faculty.
Prepare consistently to succeed on radiology board exams (and life).
Realize as early as possible that time is your most precious commodity and live accordingly.
I subsequently updated this list in July 2022 as follows:
Take advantage of every opportunity to learn.
Learn from the best books and resources.
Foster healthy relationships and activities outside of radiology.
Be kind and respectful to everybody, even at 3 AM on call.
Engage with the national and global radiology community (social media, society meetings, etc.).

Remember that time is your most precious commodity. Act accordingly.
